An adventurous and edifying expedition into the magical world of the Forman Brothers’ Theatre, Josef Sodomka and Sladovna Písek.

The Trip to Mythology will amaze you with the charming world of fantastic stories, mythical creatures and medicinal plants. An adventurous and playful exposition was created in Sladovna, where children can immerse themselves in the world of mythology in the theatre scenery. They will attempt to save a unicorn, defeat cockatrices, and sail to the island of werewolves in the mermaid skin. If they succeed and plant a seed of a new life, there is a chance that they might even see the mystical Phoenix.

Artist Josef Sodomka took charge of the artistic design and portrayed all the mystical and living animals, and together with Matěj Forman and Tereza Dobiášová prepared the game script and activities. They drew inspiration from The Talking Parcel, a book by Gerald Durell, which Durell dedicated to children. Unlike his other books, The Talking Parcel is not autobiographic; it basically described an adventurous journey to the world of mythology.

The exposition mixes mystical creatures and unusual trees with herbs, such as rue and lavender. We intended to help children understand that the world of mythology and the world that surrounds us are much closer together than we think. And that the world of mythology actually describes our world with its peculiarities and singularities. And that all you need to do is to open your eyes.
